Atlas Plywood Mill

In 1926, the Standard Veneer Company sold out to the Atlas Plywood Corporation.  Under this new management, the town earned the title "veneer city."

A reporter for the Bangor Daily News described the Atlas Mill as the largest plant of its type in the State.  During her visit, the reporter observed a pile of logs sixty feet high.
