A Farming Community

Despite the importance of the lumber industry in Stockholm, it remained a community deeply rooted in the soil.  Among the Swedish community, land ownership remained a primary goal. Younger men  worked in the mills until they saved up enough money to buy a farm of their own, while men with families worked to supplement their income.

As in the rest of Aroostook County, potatoes
