Farm Animals

In addition to growing potatoes, many of Stockholm's farmers raised livestock.  Animals were a source of income as well as food or labor (in the cases of horses or oxen), and were often the responsiblity of children, as seen in these photographs.  Dairy cattle, pigs, chickens and horses were among the most important of farm animals in the community.
